Brett Foster, D.Min.
The Reverend Doctor Brett R. Foster has been Pastor of Riverside for over two years. Brett is married and has three children. Prior to pastoring Riverside, Brett served as a youth pastor, missions coordinator and spiritual formation educator at the Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church. Brett has led hundreds of students on short-term mission trips to Kenya, the Caribbean Islands, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, France, Romania, and throughout the United States. He has also studied abroad in Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Israel, Greece, and England. With degrees in education, theology, and spirituality, Brett enjoys learning, teaching and engaging with others in dialogue concerning religion, psychology and sociology.
Brett is also a songwriter, singer, and guitar player. With three studio albums under his belt, his music has been described as “transcending traditional genres, freely moving back and forth from rock to reggae, blues to country, British invasion to Americana, jam-band to jazz-improv… all with a unique way of connecting with the crowd in unprecedented ways.”
His favorite theologians are Thomas Merton, Richard Rohr, and Ronald Rolhieser, and his favorite artists are the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan. Brett’s three favorite things about church and the spiritual life: people, people, people.
