Physical Distance But Social Connection

Message From Our Pastor - Bruce Cole

With you, we are watching as more individuals and communities are impacted by the spread of COVID-19 (the "novel coronavirus"). Our thoughts are especially with those for whom this global public health issue is immediate and personal.

At Riverside Church, we’re choosing to be proactive to protect our community and the communities beyond. As much as we cherish our Sunday worship and other gatherings, we are making the sacrifice to limit our time together for the sake of public health. We are adhering closely to guidelines from The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as from state and local government officials here in Florida. In a spirit of love and care for our neighbors and the larger city, here’s what’s happening here at Riverside Baptist Church:

  • Our campus at the corner of Park and King in Riverside is closed for the present time. We are also canceling all programs and meetings for now. Services will be livestreamed at 11 am on Sunday mornings via YouTube and Facebook Live. Click on the YouTube and Facebook icons on the top of this page to get to those places. Additionally, these services will be viewable at any time after their original stream time.
  • In addition to the streamed liturgies, please look to our website for additional resources as we continue our experience of church, in a new way during this extraordinary time.
  • Because this situation is evolving rapidly, we will continue to communicate with you in the days ahead. If you’d like to receive email or text updates, click here to share your info with us. We don’t share your info with any outside parties – ever.

We feel the sadness and anxiety of this moment and this was not a decision we took lightly. We weighed many options, and we believe that this is a moment when we must continue to look beyond ourselves and take action to care for each other and the larger world. We hold in our hearts all those who have been touched by this disease. And more than ever in this time, we lean on each other to be a church of courage, responsibility, and hope.

Coming Up this Sunday

Coming Up this Sunday

We hope you can join us at 11 AM for worship. We have plenty of room for social distancing in our 300+ seat sanctuary that is typically less than 1/3 full. While we limit attendance to maintain 6-foot social distancing, we haven’t had to turn anyone away yet. If that day comes, we’ll add an additional service time. We do ask that you wear a mask as an act of protection of others. We have disposable masks available to any who need one and plenty of hand sanitizer around the sanctuary.
